Stephen is the son of Ben and Maureen Mattern of Blessed Sacrament parish in Lincoln.    He graduated from Pius X High School in 2006, and attended UNL 2006-08. He entered the seminary in 2008 and is presently in College 2 at St. Gregory the Great Seminary.   Please pray for him.

STEWARDSHIP: TIME ~ TALENT ~ TREASURE

All too often, stewardship is presented only with the Church support or the funding of other charities as the goal.  This is too limiting.  Stewardship also involves time and talent.

Lenten Bible Study
Come and join the Bible Timeline bible study. For the next 5 weeks, the study moves into the New Testament – the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles. All are invited to come. No preparation or materials are necessary. The study takes place on Thursdays at 7:30 pm in the rectory basement.

Rosary for Life, Pro-Life, sick of the parish and the military every Monday at 5:30 PM.  For information call Mary Groebner at 488-3681.

Catholic Business Women
We would like to invite you to join us in our great mission to strengthen our faith in our everyday workplace and to make us better servants of our Lord.  Monthly we have a luncheon meeting featuring inspirational speakers.  This is a great way to take a break in your workday to share time with other Catholic Business Women. Annual L.D.C.C.W. Day of Recollection for Women
Conducted by Father Gary Coulter will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly, on Ash Wednesday, February 25, beginning at 9:30 am (no reservations necessary); Mass and Blessing with Ashes at 2:00 pm. Bring sack lunch, beverages are provided.  Cost: $5.00.  All women of the diocese are invited to attend.

Magnificat
Will host a brunch on Saturday February 21, at 10:00 a.m. at Beacon Hills, 5353 N 27th ST. Please Pray for Vocations
Vocation discernment retreat is for single women 18-35 years of age, including high school seniors.  The retreat will be held March 6-8 at Villa Regina Motherhouse.  The cost is $20.  For more information or to register call The School Sisters of Christ the King at 477-5232.  Please register by Tuesday, March 3.

Good Counsel Retreat

Diocesan Evangelization Committee
One Book, One Dioceses selection for 2009 is entitled “Sword of the Spirit: A Beginner’s Guide to St. Paul” by Christopher Cuddy and Mark Hart.  This book can be used in Adult Discussion groups, (e.g. Light of the World.

The monthly meeting of Calix
Will be held on Sunday, February 22, at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital.  Mass is at 5:00 PM in Ryan Chapel. A covered dish meal and meeting will follow.  Anyone affected with alcoholism is invited.  Questions: Craig at 438-6319.

Making Abortion Obsolete
A one-hour presentation and video will take place on Sunday, February 22, 7:00 p.m. at St. Patrick’s School Gym, 6126 Morrill Ave.  The session is open to the Public.  No charge.

Healing Hearts Support Sessions
For those who have recently suffered the loss of a loved one are being offered to assist Catholics in the grief process.  The sessions will be held on six Monday evenings from Monday, February 23 to Monday, March 30 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Blessed John XXIII Diocesan Center, 37th & Sheridan Blvd., Lincoln.  Cost:  $15.00.  To register, please call 488‑2040.

Pre-School Registration
To be registered for the M-W-F am or M-W-F pm sessions children must be 4 years old by June 30th.  To be registered for the T-TH am session-children must have turned 3 years old by January 31.  Registration forms can be picked up in the preschool room or the school office.

We now have in stock Old Chicago.  The cost of the card is $25.00 and the return for the Scrip program is 9%.  

St. Mary’s Church Lincoln
First Annual Winter Festival:  on Sunday, February 22 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Serving Bunzas, sloppy joes, soups, all made from scratch.  Raffle, children’s games and prizes. Fun for all.

Youth Ministry Coordinator
